Asphalt Loader Operator
Description

An Asphalt Plant Loader Operator safely operates front-end loaders to feed aggregate into bins, manage stockpiles, and load trucks, ensuring continuous plant production. They perform daily maintenance checks on equipment, follow strict OSHA/MSHA safety protocols, manage material quality, and assist with general plant upkeep and cleaning. 

Responsibilities
  • Equipment Operation: Operate heavy loaders (e.g., CAT 980/988) to load cold-feed bins, move sand, gravel, and recycled asphalt.
  • Stockpile Management: Maintain tidy, properly separated stockpiles to prevent contamination, segregation, and moisture buildup.
  • Plant Maintenance: Perform daily pre-and-post shift inspections, lubrication, fueling, and cleaning of the loader.
  • Production Support: Work with the plant operator to ensure a consistent flow of materials for, and assist with minor maintenance on, conveyors and screens.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations (OSHA/MSHA), use PPE, and report hazards immediately.
  • Truck Loading: Load haul trucks with the correct materials. 
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience

  • Experience operating heavy equipment, specifically front-end loaders in a construction or aggregate environment.

Work Requirements

  • Willingness to work long hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekends, often in outdoor conditions

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to sit for long periods, climb up/down equipment, work at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing on and off equipment.

Work Environment

  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions (dust, noise, heat).
