Trap Rock Industries is seeking a skilled Recycle Plant Mechanic to join the Keasbey Plant team under the Superintendent of Asphalt. This role is vital for maintaining the operational integrity of RAP plant equipment through scheduled maintenance, diagnostic repairs, and heavy-duty welding or cutting. Candidates should possess a strong background in industrial mechanical systems and be prepared for a physically demanding outdoor environment that requires lifting up to 100 pounds. Success in this position relies on an independent ability to troubleshoot machinery like crushing units and conveyor systems while maintaining a strict commitment to MSHA/OSHA safety standards and LOTO procedures.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on RAP plant equipment, including lubrication of bearings, changing conveyor belts, and servicing motors.
- Diagnose, dismantle, and repair machinery components such as crushing units (impactors), screen decks, and material handling systems.
- Perform heavy-duty cutting, grinding, and welding to repair or reinforce hoppers, chutes, conveyors, and crusher liners.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, hoses, and pneumatic tools.
- Conduct daily inspections of equipment and structures to identify wear and tear, ensuring compliance with MSHA/OSHA safety standards.
- Maintain service reports, log maintenance activities, and record spare parts usage in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Education/Experience
- Previous experience in the aggregate, construction, or asphalt industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, including engines, gearboxes, and power transmissions.
Work Requirements
- Ability to diagnose mechanical malfunctions efficiently and independently.
- Often requires shift work, long hours, and potential weekend work to accommodate production needs.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Proficient in stick welding and torch cutting.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols, including Lockout/Tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
